Australian financial markets could get a modest lift on Monday after Prime Minister Julia Gillard ended three weeks of political uncertainty by calling an election for August 21.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Dow Jones had dropped almost 300 points on friday before.
Why would ASX be any different given the bearish sentiment on Wall street ??
Why would prices on ASX rise just becasue an election day has been fixed ??
. Market was not affected went Kevin Rudd was outsed, which would have a bigger impact of anything vs an election date.
. If people were sidelined before why would they jumped in now just becasue an election date is confirmed.
. Anyway election is no longer than December which is only a couple of months more.
. An election date does not affect policy, etc.
. Why would it impact the stock market.
My take then is that its either politically correct journalism or the analyst is playing it safe and covering all bases.
